Before importing any file to a
Revit project, you must always make sure that your files are properly set
before you start importing the file to Revit.
First on your AutoCAD file, highlight the floor plan you want to export, and type W(Block) then press “space” on your keyboard, a window will pop out:
Set the insert unit to mm as it is
automatically set to inches and save and rename the file to a specific folder where
you can easily locate, then click OK.
Then in your Revit project, on floor
plan view (after your levels are set), click on the insert tab and then click
on Import CAD a window will come out, go to the folder where it was saved and
click on the file.
Set your import units to mm, I will not really advise to set it on Auto-Detect, the positioning leave it at Auto-Centre to Centre, and place it on the Level where you want it to be placed, then click on Open.
Then you have your AutoCAD floor
plan on your Revit Project, this will give you a guideline on drawing out your
floor plans.
